Imaginary Autobiography Acceptance Speeches
- Making a timeline of your life from 2022 to 2037 (you don't need to include an important event for every year, but this shoudl help you to organize the story you will write afterwards.
- Writing your own (imaginary) Autobiography (i.e. You in 2037)
- Exposition (Where and when does your journey to your award winning act or accomplishment begin?)
- Inciting incident (What happens that forces you to make the decision to do what makes you famous in 2037?)
- Rising action (What obstacles do you have to overcome in order to finally succeed and win your award? Remember that no story worth telling is ALL easy; think of things that might slow you down or force you to re-evaluate).
- Climax (This is the moment that you do whatever it is that helps you to be recognized)
- Demouement (This is where you are chosen or recognized for your act; don't forget to name your award ;-) )
- Reading and critiquing Autobiographical profiles
- Revising the rough draft of the Autobiography (due: June 8th!)
- Planning and preparing your Acceptance Speech
Imaginary Autobiography Acceptance Speeches
- Acceptance Speech : Prepare an acceptance speech in which you explain what recognition you are receiving, what you did to receive it, what important event(s) brought you to this moment, and who helped to make your achievements possible. Your presentation must be between one and two minutes long. To receive full marks for this portion of the assignment you must present a short oral presentation which you will record and share with me:
- Why you are being recognized (the name of the award, and/or the organization that is recognizing you)
- What important event(s) brought you to be recognized (the inciting incident and rising action of your narrative)
- Who inspired or supported you to become who you are (name 3 and explain what each did for you). Costumes and props are encouraged.
- a video acceptance speech, a television nterview (imagine you are invited on the 2037 equivalent of Oprah), a podcast interview, etc.
- Revising and rewriting the final draft of the Imaginary Autobiography
- Gala event
- Preparation for Grade 9 English
